Develop the knowledge and clinical understanding required to prepare for the Faculty of Occupational Medicine Diploma in Occupational Health Practice examination.
The Diploma in Occupational Health Practice course prepares healthcare professionals for the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (FOM) Diploma in Occupational Health Practice examination.
Originally introduced by the Faculty of Occupational Medicine in 2022, the qualification is open to registered nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists seeking to develop specialist knowledge in occupational health.
The programme explores the relationship between work and health, the role of occupational health professionals, and the practical skills required to manage occupational health cases and support workplace wellbeing.
Learners are introduced to the fundamentals of occupational health practice, including the role of occupational health services, the effects of work on health, and the legal and professional frameworks governing occupational health in the UK.
The programme explores clinical case management, focusing on the assessment and management of occupational health conditions and supporting employees to remain in or return to work safely.
Learners develop practical skills in applying occupational health principles through case studies, workshops and professional discussion, supported by experienced occupational health practitioners.
The final sessions focus on the practical module and production of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine portfolio, providing guidance and preparation for the DipOHPrac examination.
