Level 4 Fire Safety Inspector Apprenticeship

Develop advanced skills to carry out fire safety inspections, evaluate risk assessments and ensure compliance with fire safety legislation.

Course Overview

The Level 4 Fire Safety Inspector Apprenticeship is designed for individuals with responsibility for inspecting and auditing fire safety within buildings and organisations. The programme develops the knowledge and competence required to assess fire risk, identify non-compliance and provide professional fire safety advice.

Learners will build on existing experience in fire safety and develop the skills needed to carry out detailed inspections, produce formal reports and support organisations in meeting legal requirements.

Key Information

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements; however, learners should:

  • Be in a fire safety role or have significant fire safety responsibilities
  • Have access to a workplace mentor or line manager

Typical responsibilities may include:

  • Conducting fire safety inspections
  • Evaluating fire risk assessments
  • Identifying non-compliance with legislation
  • Producing formal inspection reports
  • Providing fire safety advice to management or responsible persons

For those new to fire safety, completing a Level 3 Fire Safety Advisor qualification first is recommended.

Delivery Model

Training is delivered through a blended approach:

  • Virtual tutor-led workshops
  • Structured online learning
  • Assignments and workplace-based application

 

Learners will use the OneFile ePortfolio system to track progress and complete their apprenticeship requirements.

End Point Assessment (EPA)

The EPA is the final independent assessment and includes:

  • Observed online simulated assessment (documentation review, inspection, debrief)
  • Knowledge test (8 written questions and building plan annotation)
  • Professional discussion supported by a portfolio of evidence

 

Learners can achieve a Pass or Distinction.
