This two-day course qualifies you as a Mental Health First Aider, giving you:
- An in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing
- Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues
- Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress
- Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening
- Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support – whether that’s self-help resources, through their employer, the NHS, or a mix

The course will cover the following learning outcomes:
- Understand what is meant by mental health.
- Understand common mental health conditions including depression, substance misuse, Addiction, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, personality disorders and psychotic disorders.
- Understand the role of the mental health first aider.

Our training centre in Chorley is fully accessible with the main training room located on the ground floor. There is a wheelchair accessible toilet on the ground floor and a wheelchair accessible lift to the first floor.Â
