Additional Information

The OGUK safety standard lays down certain requirements which must be met, including:

Safety is the number one priority for the oil & gas industry and the medical examination plays a part in that. It gives protection to the individuals receiving certification and – by extension – reduces risk for their fellow offshore team members who often rely on them to carry out their job properly and safely.

For emergency response teams (ERT) in oil and gas, a higher level of fitness is a must. They are often required to deal with acute or life-threatening situations. So it follows that the ERT OGUK medical involves an aerobic fitness test and a slightly higher standard for Body Mass Index (BMI).
