Recent research indicates that up to 50% of all RPE used does not offer the wearer the needed level of protection.

One of the major reasons is that it doesn’t fit correctly.  Under health & safety regulations respiratory protective equipment (RPE) must be correctly selected and this includes a face fit test carried out by a competent person.

Our Qualitative Face Fit Testing assesses the fit of disposable face masks for the individual wearer and providers employers with documented evidence to show the RPE fits the wearer. By subjecting each wearer to face fit testing you can be sure that your organization is fulfilling the requirements laid out by the regulations.

When Should Fit Testing be carried out?

Face Fit Testing should ideally be carried out in the initial stages of selecting respiratory protective equipment (RPE). However where an untested face piece is already in use, and providing it is in good condition it can also be used to perform the fit test.

Face Fit Testing does not need to be done annually but it is recommended that face piece wearers receive annual training covering the selection, use and maintenance of their mask.  An employee should not need to be re-tested unless one of the following occurs:

• You companies policy changes relating to fit testing.

• Your employee undergoes extensive dental treatment.

• You gain or lose weight excessively

• Facial hair growth occurs in which your tight fitting face piece is ineffective and you are now at substantial risk.

Please note that in order for the face fit tests to be successful, the trainee MUST NOT eat, drink or smoke for at least 30 minutes before the test is performed. They must also be clean-shaven as stubble will prevent a good seal and the face fit test will fail.

This can be carried out at your North West location for £35 + vat per person, based on a minimum of 6 persons.
