COURSE AWARD(S) Level 3 Learning Mentor; Level 1 Safeguarding; Option to include ILM Award in Effective Mentoring
DURATION Typically 12 months, excluding End Point Assessment
SUMMARY Mentoring takes place in all parts of the Education and Training Sector and staff-development contexts. A Learning Mentor supports learners of all ages, and all levels, to develop within work role. These learners may be, for example, apprentices, trainees or new recruits. Mentors will have sector-specific experience and qualifications, which they use to guide and advise those who are less experienced.

Individual employers may set any entry requirements which may include:
- A strong aspiration to support learners.
- A qualification, at an appropriate level in the candidate’s vocational/subject specialism.
- Candidates may have achieved maths, English and ICT skills at Level 2 (equivalent to GCSE Grade C or above) prior to commencing their training. Those that have not must achieve this prior to taking the end-point assessment.

A Learning Mentor is classed as a ‘Dual Professional’ having both up-to-date knowledge and skills in a specialist vocational or subject area, together with the skills necessary to support and develop learners.

End Point Assessment will consist of 2 elements:
- Observation
- Professional discussion
Full support will be provided to candidates during the Gateway period at the end of their Apprenticeship to prepare them for this End Point Assessment.

£5000 paid via the apprenticeship service account.
Employer contribution is 5% or £400 (only payable by employers who do not pay the apprenticeship levy)
Please note optional ILM exam fees are not included and will be met by employer contribution.
