The principal aim of the Diploma in Occupational Health Practice is to provide learners with a grounding in occupational health and to prepare them for the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (FOM) Diploma in Occupational Health Practice examination (DipOHPrac).
We prioritise nurse-led training to help registered healthcare professionals working in occupational health progress their careers; and help others to move into occupational health.
The qualification is open to Registered Nurses, Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists.Ā It is hoped the course will be open to other registered health care professionals in the near future.

Compass is approved by Faculty of Occupational Medicine (FOM), Royal College of Physicians, London to provide this course.
Ten days, delivered one day a week over ten weeks.
The course is approved for all eligible nursing professionals (national and international) who wish to prepare for the FOM Diploma in Occupational Health Practice examination.Ā Other health care professionals wishing to learn more about occupational health and obtain a Certificate of Attendance for the course are also welcome.
The course will be delivered on-line (using MS Teams) over 10 days and will include lectures, presentations, workshops and knowledge assessments.Ā Delivery will be Nurse-led, by experienced and specialist occupational health practitioners.
Reference material will be based upon UK practice and legislation.
All delegates will receive a certificate of attendance. Ā Delegates are required to attend at least 90% of the course to be eligible to sit the DipOHPrac examination administered by Faculty of Occupational Medicine.Ā This examination consists of a Multiple Choice Exam; Portfolio; Professional Discussion which must be completed within 5 years of attending the course.Ā More information on these can be found at: https://www.fom.ac.uk/education/examinations/diplomas/dipohprac
Meet the DipOHPrac Tutor Team

Lynda is an accomplished Registered Nurse and a leading figure in Occupational Health. Her commitment to shaping future professionals is evident in her decade-long tenure as a lecturer at Robert Gordon University, where she also holds an Associate Fellowship with the Higher Education Academy. Alongside this, she is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health and actively contributes to the community as a Trustee Director for iOH The Association of Occupational Health and Wellbeing Professionals and as a Non-Executive Director for a significant local housing charity.Ā

Louise has worked as an Occupational Health Nurse for over 30 years in industries as varied as Petrochemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Steel / Scrap Metal and in the NHS. Having a Masters degree in Occupational Safety and Health, as well as a degree in Occupational Health Nursing gives Louise a wide, real-world perspective which she is keen to pass on to new-comers to the speciality . She has previously been an Honorary Lecturer on several Occupational Health courses at Universities across the North-West of England alongside her day job.

Jacqui has worked as an occupational health nurse for over 25 years in a variety of industries, the last 15 of these been as an independent sole OH provider to a diverse range of employers, from airports to manufacturing, engineering to mills, tree surgeons to plastic box makers several of whom are household names. Using her extended learning in Workplace Ergonomics and Health and Safety to add to her B.Med.Sci in OH to help keep employers achieve their legislative requirements in relation to employee health.

As a remote course, Compass Skills Training will accept a minimum of 6 learners and a maximum of 30 learners on each course.
