DESCRIPTION
An introduction to the hazards involved with the use of, and the mounting of abrasive wheels on a spindle and the control measures available. This course is designed not only for operatives, but also for management who wish to develop their own knowledge into the safest and most efficient ways of operating when handling abrasive wheels.

AIMS
By the end of the course all delegates will have:
- Knowledge of current legislation associated with the use of abrasive wheels
- Understanding of the hazards and precautions including personal protective equipment
- Ability to position work guards and rests
- Understanding of various compositions and markings
- Ability to maintain abrasive wheels
- Ability to inspect, test, mount balance, dress and set true abrasive wheels
- Ability to check speed requirements
- Understanding of grinding operations
- Ability of hand arm vibration
COURSE CONTENT
- Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
- Provision & Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
- Personnel protective equipment
- British standard marking system
- Storage, handling, transportation, inspection and testing of abrasive wheels
- Hazards arising when using abrasive wheels/discs
- Function of the main components
- Dressing and balancing band rest adjustment (off hand and pedestal grinders only)
- Changing an abrasive wheel or disc (both theory and practical sessions)
CERTIFICATION
At the end of this course, successful candidates will be issued with a certificate of attendance from Compass Management Solutions. If you have between 4 -6 people we can deliver this course anywhere in the north west for £295 + vat.
