DESCRIPTION
This CAT & Genny Training course includes both practical training in the correct operations of the CAT & Genny and also a classroom based theory session. This course will cover the basis of operations and methods involved in locating underground services, the problems and hazards to be aware of and how to determine the readings given.

AIMS
By the end of the course all delegates will have:
- An understanding of the main relevant legislation
- An understanding of the hazards associated with underground services
- Familiarity with the various principles of operation of cable avoidance tools and also their limitations.
- An understanding of the necessity for planning underground services surveys
- A knowledge of the correct survey methods and the appropriate marking methods
- A knowledge of safe digging practices and how to implement them
- An understanding of the need for appropriate emergency procedures
COURSE CONTENT
- Relevant legislation for detecting and tracing underground services
- Reasons for using locators
- Hazards arising from the use of cable avoidance tools and signal generators and the precautions that should be observed
- Identification of types of cable avoidance tools and signal generators
- Implication of damage, handling and transporting of equipment
- Inspecting, calibration and testing of equipment
- The methods of safe use of pipe and cable location equipment along with basic locating techniques
- Safe working practices
CERTIFICATION
Upon successful completion, the candidate will be issued with a certificate of attendance by Compass Training.
COST
This course is delivered at our centre in Chorley, or at clients venue for up to 10 people at an inclusive rate of £395 + vat for the half day (travel expenses may apply).
