Now I've Actually Got the Skill Set to be able to Teach Correctly
We interviewed Chloe Peters who attended the Level 3 Award in Education and Training with us during a 5-day intensive classroom course held at Compass House in Chorley.
What have you found most useful about the 5-Day in person Level 3 Award in Education & Training classroom course?
Definitely the amount of information that I’ve got. I didn’t realise how much actually went into planning lessons, so just to have that insight has been amazing.
I currently train at the moment in my current role, however I was doing it all off my own knowledge and my own experience. From this course, I now know how to structure my lessons correctly, as well as how to engage the students in the training sessions. I also feel like I have a lot more background information on training as a whole.
What is your job role at the Royal Free Hospital?
Currently, I am an assistant fire officer. At the moment, I am training staff and I will be the group trainer, meaning I will be going across site constantly to train members of staff as often as I possibly can.

Tell us how you plan to use the skills you’ve learned this week
This Level 3 AET course will make sure that I’m getting the right structure in to my training sessions, I now know how to present myself, and I know what kind of subjects I need to be hitting. Now I’ve actually got the skill set to be able to teach correctly with the right structure and the right knowledge behind me, engaging the learners when it comes to training. Moving forward, I’m excited to be the trainer of my hospital.
How will you use the skills you have to keep learners engaged?
Before attending this course, I was training just off a PowerPoint and trying to engage off of knowledge that I felt is best. But now I have knowledge that is known to work and to help engage all types of learners, especially in my role with adults as I will be the third or fourth person speaking that day. I now know how to make it a bit more fun, make sure the structure is correct and make sure the learners are getting the knowledge that they need to get.
