Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA)
This Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement, also known CAVA or TAQA, replaces the A1\A2 and D32\D33 assessor awards. It is designed for assessors who are working with students completing a range of vocational qualifications from the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF); these include NVQ/Diplomas, Technical Certificates and Functional Skills.
This qualification includes both workplace and vocational assessing, giving you the knowledge and skills to assess the competence of staff in both the workplace and training environments.
There are 3 mandatory units in this qualification:
- Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
- Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment
- Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding
Upon enrolment you get access to the online portal with videos, study material and assignments that showcase your knowledge and your assessment in practice.
You will have regular input from your tutor to provide ongoing support for up to the twelve months you have on programme. Most people complete the course within 4 months. You should allow for up to 150 hours of study time.
Candidates need to be at least 19 years old. There are no other formal entry requirements although you do need to be in a role that can support you to assess in practice.
This course is approved for delivery by NOCN, who will issue the certificate upon completion. NOCN is an OFQUAL-regulated awarding body.
