DURATION Typically 15 months, plus End Point Assessment period
SUMMARY The occupation covered by this standard is that of a Health & Safety Advisor or SHE Technician role – who is usually part office based and part at the workface. A SHE Technician will assist to develop, review and check on the implementation of safe systems of work, deliver training (eg toolbox talks and inductions),
investigate accidents, analyse data and present findings to the management team
PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP Learners will join IOSH as a student member and develop their skills to achieve Technical membership upon completion of their course.

INTAKE DATES January, May and September every year.
Individual employers will set their own selection criteria for this apprenticeship. Typically an apprentice might be expected to have achieved or working towards 5 GCSEs A* to C including English and Maths as well as having knowledge to Level 1 equivalent for commonly used office computer applications.
A SHE Technician will engage with all aspects of the organisation to support the embedment of a culture that ensures that everyone is able to return to their family
and friends unharmed every day whilst also protecting and enhancing the global land, air and water resources for future generations.

Students will have the option at the end of their qualification to take the NEBOSH General Certificate exam. (Exam costs are not included).
End Point Assessment will consist of 3 elements:
- Knowledge test
- Work project and presentation
- Professional discussion
Full support will be provided to candidates during the Gateway period at the end of their Apprenticeship to prepare them for this End Point Assessment.
£5000 paid via the apprenticeship service account.
Employer contribution is 5% or £250 (only payable by employers who do not pay the apprenticeship levy)
Please note professional membership fees and NEBOSH exam fees are not included and will be met by employer contribution. Any exam resit charges will also be met by employer contribution.
