This Level 4 qualification is designed to develop the knowledge, skills and professional judgement required to carry out fire risk assessments in moderate-risk premises.
Aligned with BS 8674: 2025, the course builds on Level 3 knowledge and supports learners in progressing to an intermediate-level fire risk assessor role. It combines practical application with recognised industry standards to ensure learners can confidently assess fire risks in real-world environments.
To achieve the Level 4 Certificate, learners must complete the following mandatory units:
- Fire safety requirements in buildings for intermediate-level fire risk assessors
- Coaching, mentoring and personal development of fire risk assessors
- Carry out fire risk assessments of moderate fire risk buildings
To achieve the Level 4 Diploma, learners must complete the three mandatory units plus at least two of the following optional units:
- Fire risk assessment in purpose-built blocks of flats
- Fire risk assessment in construction environments
- Fire risk assessment in heritage buildings
- Fire risk assessment in health and care premises
There are no formal entry requirements; however, learners are expected to:
- Hold a Level 3 fire safety qualification
- Have experience undertaking fire risk assessments
- Be working in a role that provides access to moderate-risk premises
- Be aged 18 or over
- Level 4 Certificate: 5 days
- Level 4 Diploma: 5 days + 2 days per optional unit
Delivery is available face-to-face or online, supported by access to MyKademy LMS for learning materials and assignments.
Assessment is completed through a portfolio of evidence, including written assignments and practical fire risk assessments.
On completion, learners may progress to:
- Level 5 Diploma in Fire Risk Assessment
- Level 5 Diploma in Fire Engineering Design
- Training aligned with the latest industry standards, including BS 8674: 2025
- Delivered by experienced fire safety professionals
