The team at Compass carried out Collection Officer training with our new laboratory partner, Synlab last week.
The team of Collection Officers renewed their training to ensure we are fully compliant with the Chain of Custody procedures of Synlab and in line with standard industry practice of renewing the training every 3 years. It was interesting to learn how the COVID pandemic has had a significant effect on alcohol and drug use, studies show that employees were drinking more alcohol when working from home and more people have thus developed a dependancy on alcohol. During the lockdown period, despite there being less traffic on the road there was actually an increase drink drive arrests and prosecutions. Studies also show that the types of drugs people use has changed, with more people misusing prescription drugs. The European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Alcohol Addiction (EMCDDA) has been looking at the issue of drug addiction during the lockdown period, and in an extensive report states that ‘those who drink or drugs are now using more’.
Compass carry out drugs and alcohol testing for a range of clients including offshore workers, the transport, aviation and construction industries and manufacturing organisations as well as being able to advise on drugs and alcohol awareness training for managers and offering support to employees with a drug or alcohol problem.
If you would like more information on the types of drug and alcohol testing we are able to carry out and how to implement a drug and alcohol testing program please contact us.
